Thank you to everyone who signed the petition. Double thanks to all those who helped spread the word.
Just a few weeks ago, Time Warner moved forward with a Design Survey of our area. This was the step needed to estimate feasibility to complete bringing service to our area.
I was in touch with the TWC staff member who prepared that Design request package and an important part was the list of 288 local households who signed the petition for TWC services- almost all of them asking to get both internet and cable TV.
Just a few days ago I was informed that the design had been completed and the entire submission was with the TWC executive level and under review. For large build-outs approval must be gotten before moving to the construction stage.
Today I got this email from my contact in TWC telling me that
“We’ve been promoted to construction. I don’t have the exact timetable but it looks like we’ll begin building out to the rest of Woodcreek North and Wimberley Springs subdivisions this year.”
This is incredibly exciting!
But What Does It Mean?
What this means is that we should see them break ground sometime between March and June as a rough estimate. Then it will take up to a full year to complete the build and actually begin offering service.
So what it really means is that there is a rescue from slow internet on the horizon!
Thanks To Everyone
Thank you so much for your support. While its going to a long time before we can actually sign up for the service, it is coming!
June 2016 Update
Some months ago I undertook a project to convince Time Warner to bring cable to Woodcreek North and Wimberley Springs. The project was successful in that the Time Warner executive structure approved Woodcreek North as a construction project and we are currently in what they refer to as the “construction phase”. We were originally programmed for construction to start very roughly in the summer, Aug-Sept. It could be a little later. Once construction starts the project is expected to take 12 months to complete. Again, approximately. We are hoping that service will be available at the end of next year, in late 2017 or early 2018. While this may seem a long time, keep in mind that it is a lot quicker than “never” which was the original planned start of construction.
Recently Time Warner was brought out by Charter Communications. TWC does not actually exist anymore. Some people have been asking me if this changes anything.
Here is what my Charter Communications/TWC contact told me recently.
“The only changes will be to the branding and the core products, such as better prices, higher speeds, better equipment, and of course it will all be called ‘Spectrum’ and not Time Warner Cable.”
“The merger has not changed our plans for Woodcreek as far as I know.”
Also another WPOA Board Member has seen TWC trucks working on the infrastructure down the sides of our subdivision and one of the workmen on site stated that he was working on installing Cable TV lines. So this is also visible evidence of progress on this project and the Property Owners Association will continue to do everything possible to make this a reality for our residents.
